In most states in the US, amber lamps stand for warning lights but lamps for an ambulance are not defined. It can be in red, in red white, or blue somewhere.
For example in the state of Indiana, a tow truck or wrecker must be equipped with an amber lamp to warn traffic of the potential safety hazard that may be present on the road or highway, and the amber beacon or amber light must be visible at 500 feet under normal atmospheric conditions at night.
Red or red-white lamps can be installed on the ambulance or fire truck. Indiana Code requires an ambulance to have a red lamp or a red and white lamp that is flashing, rotating, or oscillating that must be visible to oncoming traffic 18- degrees around the front of the vehicle. Light positioning and visibility distance are not mentioned within the law.
PC16 perimeter light performs well on the ambulance. It comes in single color or split color. Normally it will be red or red-white on the ambulance. They can be mounted on the ambulance for 6 or 8 pieces. Because of its big size, people can see it easily.
