Since more and more smart systems have been installed in personal vehicles, making them more sophisticated became one of the most important goals of car brands. For instance, BMW vehicles had to keep developing smarter ways to convey information about the condition of the car to the driver, which referred to more indicators and informative lights. All the indicators in the dash need to be understood by the driver.

Most of the time it is easy to find the exact meaning of each indicator light and how to fix it from the manual booklet. But it could be troublesome that one of the indicators comes on just when you are not with the manual. Thus, we have gathered a handy guide for you as a reference below.

Described below are some simple rules of thumb:

Indicators in red light refer to a severe problem (warning) that has to be tackled down as soon as possible. Or you are facing further risks or damages to your car. In this case, you should pull up your vehicle immediately and check at once. Do not restart it before you fix the problem.

Indicators in yellow color refer to less-severe-problem (caution). Such an indicator often indicates a problem that should be checked soon. Less-severe-problem won’t bring about acute damage to your car even when it is still running. However, such a problem needs to be checked as soon as possible as well.
